Andhra Pradesh has recorded a sharp rise in paddy procurement during the current kharif (2025-26) season, with 3,49,061 tonnes procured as on November 20, 2025, the highest among the last three seasons.
The officials attribute the “remarkable rise” in paddy procurement to improved administrative efficiency, timely MSP payments, and growing farmer confidence in the State’s procurement system.
According to information, 49,473 farmers have already benefited this season, with payments amounting to ₹827.84 crore being cleared.
In comparison, during the corresponding period of kharif 2023–24, the procurement stood at 2,40,781 MTs, covering 32,207 farmers with total payments of ₹.554.04 crore. The Kharif 2022–23 season logged 90,541 MTs, benefiting only 12,717 farmers.
The district-wise data indicates that East Godavari, Konaseema, and Krishna are leading the procurement drive, with several districts reflecting sharp increases both in quantity procured and value paid to farmers.
Konaseema district reported over 56,885 MTs, while East Godavari clocked 95,885 MTs. Eluru district showed a substantial jump across seasons, with procurement rising from 39,105 MTs (2023–24) to over 54,564 MTs this year. Krishna district reported over 50,821 MTs.
When contacted, Civil Supplies Corporation Chairman and Managing Director S. Dilli Rao attributed the steady growth to expanded procurement centres, digital monitoring systems, enhanced transport logistics, and quick resolution of farmer grievances.
The budget estimated for the procurement was about ₹13,450 crore. Of this, ₹12,125 crore would be paid to the farmers, and the remaining spent towards gunnysacks, labour and transportation charges, he said.
For kharif 2023–24, the State had estimated 35.30 lakh MT of paddy production. Procurement, however, remained modest at 90,540 MT, benefiting 12,717 farmers, with a total of ₹91.72 crore disbursed to them.
In kharif 2024–25, procurement activity picked up considerable momentum. Against an estimated 36.14 lakh MT of production, the government procured 2,40,781 MT, nearly three times more than the previous season’s quantity.
This season saw 29,799 farmers receiving payments amounting to ₹512.23 crore, reflecting a significant improvement in procurement efficiency.
The ongoing kharif 2025–26 season witnessed the strongest performance. With an ambitious estimate of 50.75 lakh MT, procurement had already reached 3,49,061 MT, surpassing the previous year’s figure well ahead of schedule. A record 44,128 farmers had been paid so far, with total disbursements touching ₹740.90 crore.
