The station building itself is undergoing a major makeover at a cost of ₹10 crore. Upcoming facilities include a 12-metre foot overbridge, two lifts, two escalators, a waiting room and extended platform covers. The station handles a daily footfall of about 5,400 passengers, he said, and pointed out that it is part of the 40 stations in Telangana being redeveloped with modern facilities. While the ₹720-crore redevelopment of Secunderabad station is progressing well and Hyderabad station is being developed at a cost of ₹350 crore, the Kacheguda redevelopment plan is currently in the approval stage, he added.

Chevella MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy expressed happiness that four railway stations in his constituency — HiTech City, Tandur, Vikarabad, and Hafeezpet — are being modernized as Amrit stations. South Central Railway General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, Chief Administrative Officer Sandeep Jain and others were present, according to a press release.
