Union Minister of Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy, on Sunday, wrote to the president of the Press Club of Hyderabad S. Vijaykumar Reddy to host an open debate with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and himself, to discuss the Centre’s year-wise and sector-wise allocations to Telangana.

The debate can encompass Central grants, assistance, and infrastructure projects implemented since 2014 and flagship national schemes and Centrally-sponsored programmes benefiting the State. These facts may be placed before the people of the State once and for all.

This open debate should be facilitated in the interest of “truth, transparency, and public awareness” as the citizens of Telangana deserve clarity on key contributors to the State’s development, he said.

“The programme is necessary since both BRS and Congress leaders have repeatedly questioned the role of the NDA-led Central Government in the development of TG during every election.

Both parties have often propagated the narrative that the Centre has neglected TG and that his role as Union Minister has been a hurdle to the State’s growth and welfare. These claims, however, are “completely false and politically-motivated,” he alleged.

He also sought to point out that he had given a presentation on the Centre’s contribution on June 17, 2023, at RTC Kalabhavan, Bagh Lingampally, where it was shown that the over ₹9 lakh crore was given to TG’s development over nine years (between 2014 and 2023), across all major sectors.
