Tedlapu Mallamma from Dr. B.R.Ambedkar Konaseema district, who has been stranded in Muscat for nearly six months, was repatriated on Friday.
A native of Mummudivaram in Dr. B.R.Ambedkar Konaseema district, Ms. Mallamma had travelled to Muscat in February through an Indian agent to work as a househelp. In June, Ms. Mallamma’s employee relieved her duties citing poor documentation for her continued stay.
The agency that recruited Ms. Mallamma demanded extra money to find her another job as she was jobless. Dr. B.R.Ambedkar Konaseema District Collector R. Mahesh Kumar said that Ms. Mallamma has been repatriated safely with the support of Konaseema Centre for Migration (KCM) and Muscat Telugu Association. The KCM will inquire about the agent and agency involved in the recruitment of Ms. Mallamma.
