Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd. personnel, in a coordinated operation, reunited a 14-year-old runaway boy with his parents on Thursday (November 20, 2025), at Ratnagiri.
Head Travelling Ticket Examiner Pradeep Z. Shirke reported to the Commercial Congrol that he found the boy travelling without a ticket in the General Coach of Train No. 12619, Mumbai LTT-Mangaluru Central Matsyagandha Express on November 20.
During routine checking, Mr. Shrike observed that the child was travelling alone in school uniform with a school bag. On interacting with him, he learned that the boy had run away from home. Recognising the gravity of the situation, he immediately informed the Commercial Control and requested Railway Protection Force assistance at Ratnagiri Station.
Responding promptly, the RPF team at Ratnagiri attended the case and took the boy into safe custody for appropriate handover. It was subsequently found that the child had been missing from his school in Vasco-da-Gama, Goa, and his parents had widely circulated information seeking help in tracing him.
Due to the alertness, vigilance and timely action of the frontline Ticket Checking staff, along with the coordinated efforts of Commercial Control and the RPF, the missing child was safely reunited with his parents, KRCL said in a release.
