KSEB official arrested on charge of accepting bribe

The Ernakulam unit of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau on Wednesday arrested an assistant engineer of the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹90,000 from a builder. The arrested is Pradeepan N., a resident of Kaloor, who works at the KSEB’s Thevara division office.

He was caught red-handed while accepting the amount from the complainant near a bus stop at Thevera around 6 p.m. “The complainant approached the VACB after the official sought a bribe of ₹1.5 lakh to convert a temporary electricity connection to permanent at a newly constructed building in Panampilly Nagar. He will be produced before court on Thursday,” C.M. Varghese, DySP, VACB, Ernakulam unit, said.
