The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) launched a new direct Flybus (Volvo multi-axle) service between Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru and Davanagere. The service was inaugurated by Transport and Muzrai Minister Ramalinga Reddy at Terminal 2 of the airport on November 12.

As part of an initiative to enhance passenger convenience, KSRTC introduced a complimentary Nandini snack kit for all Flybus passengers, procured from the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF). Each kit will comprise a water bottle, flavoured milk, cookies, cake, and a packet of Kodubale. The distribution of these snack kits will begin from November 15.

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Reddy recalled that the first Flybus service between Bengaluru airport and Mysuru was introduced during his earlier tenure as Transport Minister in August 2013. Since then, the Flybus network has expanded to Madikeri and Kundapura, and now to Davanagere, offering greater regional connectivity for airport passengers.

“Promoting public transport and encouraging people to use it more frequently should be our top priority. KSRTC continues to lead in introducing new services and innovative passenger-friendly initiatives. KSRTC recently received a government of India Excellence Award for its ‘Dhwani Spandana’ initiative implemented in Mysuru,” Mr Reddy said.

The new service will operate two daily trips in each direction.

From the airport, buses will depart at 12.45 AM and 10.00 AM while the return trips from Davanagere will be at 8.00 AM and 5.00 PM. En route, passengers can board or alight at Tumakuru Bypass and Chitradurga Bypass.

Currently, KSRTC operates 13 Flybus routes covering Mysuru (9), Madikeri (2), Davanagere (2), and Kundapura (2), with 44 daily trips covering 10,240 km and serving around 1,050 passengers every day.
