Working president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) K.T. Rama Rao on Sunday expressed grief over the major fire accident that occurred at the well-known Anjaneyaswamy shrine at Kondagattu in Jagtial district in the wee hours.
Though there was no loss of life, about 30 shops were reduced to ashes rendering shop-owners jobless (livelihood). The shops were being run by poor and middle class families after taking the stall sites on lease from the temple and the loss of property in the mishap is estimated at over ₹1 crore.
After learning about the fire mishap, Mr. Rama Rao spoke to former MLA S. Ravishanker over phone and enquired about the loss. Mr. Ravishanker explained that the shop-owners were selling toys and other material pushing the families’ future into uncertainty. He explained that the delay in arrival of fire tenders had led to huge property loss as the fire tender at Jagtial fire station was under repair.
Fire tenders from Karimnagar were sent to Kondagattu after one rushed there from Jagtial did not work. He demanded that the State government extend compensation to the families who suffered loss in the mishap. Mr. Rama Rao asked the BRS leaders to participate in any relief work. He complimented Mr. Ravishanker for extending ₹5,000 each as immediate assistance to the victim families.
