Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president, K.T. Rama Rao, has declared that the party will not allow the ‘handing over’ of lands to industrialists under the Hyderabad Industrial Land Transformation (HILT) policy.
Accusing the Congress government of committing a scam worth ₹5 lakh crore, the former minister said that they will pursue legal action to ensure the cancellation of the policy. He also urged local people, workers, and others to join their fight, stating that these lands were originally earmarked for industrial development and job creation, not real estate.
Accompanied by BRS leaders, including Quthbullapur MLA K. P. Vivekanand, Mr. Rao toured key industrial zones in Hyderabad, including Jeedimetla, on Thursday (December 4, 2025).
Market value of ₹1 lakh to ₹1.5 lakh
Speaking to the media after interacting with locals, he said, “While the market value in these localities is anywhere between ₹1 lakh to ₹1.5 lakh per square yard, the State government is trying to transfer these parcels to industrialists for around ₹4,000 rupees per square yard, which is a pittance.”
He added that the State government is attempting to hand over a total of 9,300 acres of land worth ₹5 lakh crore to industrialists, allowing them to use their land as they wish.
Stating that shifting of industrial units out of the city will cause job loss, he suggested that the government can build IT parks if its intention is to shift polluting industries.

“It can also build houses for the poor, develop parks, schools, hostels, and sports facilities. The same land can also be offered to labourers working in these industries at nominal prices,” he said, adding that the BRS will hold round-table conferences and other programmes to ensure that the government does away with the policy.
Announcing that the BRS will cancel the policy after returning to power, Mr. Rao said, “I caution the industrial unit owners not to be involved in this scam as the policy will be cancelled.”
