Working president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) K.T. Rama Rao criticised the Congress government for deceiving minorities, failing to fulfil its promises and aligning with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Participating in a meeting with minority leaders in connection with the byelection to Jubilee Hills Assembly seat at Shamshabad here on Monday, he said Congress had brought senior leaders to Telangana to announce its so-called Minority Declaration and promised a change. Two years ago, the Congress said it would allocate ā¹4,000 crore annually for minorities welfare and introduce a Minorities Sub-Plan, but both promises were broken.
He recalled that the BRS government led by K. Chandrasekhar Rao had introduced the Shaadi Mubarak scheme providing ā¹1 lakh financial assistance for poor brides. The Congress had promised that it would offer more ā 10 gm gold in addition to ā¹1 lakh under the scheme, but in vain.
Stating that Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao had established minoritiesā residential schools enabling hundreds of students to become doctors and engineers, Mr. Rama Rao said the BRS government in the past had also increased the number of medical colleges from four to thirty-four and introduced scholarships worth ā¹20 lakh for higher education abroad.
Mr. Rama Rao recalled that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had himself admitted that he had studied in Modiās school, went to Chandrababuās college and is working under Rahul Gandhi now. āMr. Rahul Gandhi says āChowkidar chor haiā, while Mr. Revanth Reddy calls Modi his elder brother. Rahul criticises the CBI and ED as Modiās pocket agencies, But Revanth hands over the Kaleshwaram case to the CBI,ā he said.
He appealed to the minorities to unite and teach Congress a lesson in the upcoming Jubilee Hills byelection and added that BRSās victory was certain and only the winning margin remains to be decided.
