Kurnool District Superintendent of Police Vikrant Patil has asked the police to maintain a strict vigil and take all the security measures in view of the Bharat Bandh call given by the CPI (Maoists) in protest of the killing of their leaders in the recent exchanges of fire.

Addressing the monthly crime review meeting here on Saturday, the SP asked the police personnel to gather information about the individuals who took part in the rally near the District Collectorate recently, protesting the ‘encounter’ of Maoists.

Further, the SP asked police to launch a special drive against drunken driving and consuming alcohol in public places. He wanted the officials to take up awareness programmes to prevent road accidents and cybercrimes in Kurnool, Pathikonda, Adoni and Yemmiganur sub-divisions.

Pointing out that more road accidents are taking place during nights, he asked the police to identify the stretches ridden with potholes and dangerous curves, and take the necessary repairs.

Mr. Vikrant Patil asked the officials to counsel the drivers on the ill-effect of drunken driving, using a mobile phone while driving, wrong route driving, helmetless driving and triple riding.

He wanted the Central Crime Station (CCS) police to solve the property offences pending with Kurnool IV Town and III Town police stations.

The SP also asked the officials to counsel the rowdy-sheeters and look into the request to withdraw rowdy-sheets on those who become old.
