LDF finalises seat allocation for Kannur district panchayat polls

The Left Democratic Front (LDF) has completed seat allocation for the 25 Kannur district panchayat constituencies, with the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] contesting the majority share of 16 seats.

The distribution was announced at a press conference addressed by LDF district convener N. Chandran on Tuesday (November 11). According to the final list, the Communist Party of India (CPI) will contest in three seats, while Kerala Congress (M), Janata Dal (S), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Congress (S), and the Indian National League (INL) will field candidates in one seat each.

CPI(M) candidates will contest in Karivellur, Mathamangalam, Peravoor, Patyam, Pattayam, Panniannoor, Kadirur, Pinarayi, Peralassery, Anjarakandi, Koodali, Mayil, Azhikode, Kalliasseri, Cherukunnu, Pariyaram, and Kunhimangalam. CPI will contest in Kolayad, Kurumathur, and Matool. Kerala Congress (M) has been allotted Padiyur, JD(S) Payyavoor, RJD Kolavallur, NCP Kottiyoor, Congress (S) Naduvil, and INL Kolacheri.

The seat-sharing discussions were finalised at the LDF district committee meeting held on November 11 under the chairmanship of CPI leader C.P. Santosh Kumar.

Leaders, including K.K. Ragesh, K.T. Jose, A. Pradeepan, Joy Konnakkal, K.T. Suresh Kumar, V.K. Girijan, K.P. Prashanth, P.K. Raveendran, and others, attended the meeting.
