Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel attached to Konkan Railway Corporation Limited handed over a left-behind hand bag containing valuables worth ₹8 lakh to its rightful owner at Bhatkal on November 25.
A communique here said RPF personnel received a message that two passengers travelling in the B1 coach of Train No. 12619 Mumbai LTT-Mangaluru Central Matsyagandha had left behind a hand bag on their berth. As the train arrived at Bhatkal, head RPF constable Ravidas Gungi went to the train and secured the bag with the assistance of the travelling ticket examiner.
An inventory was prepared in the presence of the duty station master and it was found the bag contained a mangalasutra, four gold bangles, and other valuables worth ₹8 lakh.
Claimant Raghuveer Desbhandari, who received the bag at Bhatkal, said he was travelling from Panvel to Honnavar and forgot to take the bag while alighting. He thanked KCL and the RPF for safely returning the bag.
