Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker U.T. Khader said the legislature session at Belagavi will be held between December 8 and 19. The Business Advisory Committee will meet on the first day of the session and decide whether the session needs to be extended beyond December 19.

Speaking with reporters in Mangaluru on Tuesday (November 25), Mr. Khader said that priority will be accorded to passing the bills. So far, six general bills have been slated for presentation and more are expected to be added to the list. Like in the earlier sessions at Belagavi, time will be earmarked for discussions on issues related to North Karnataka.

Refusing to comment on talks of change in Chief Minister, Mr. Khader claimed he was not aware of any such development. “After becoming Speaker, my political channel has been practically closed and my constitutional channel has opened,” he said. The legislature session will be held as per prevailing rules.

Arrangements are being made for the stay of MLAs, officials, and other persons in Belagavi. Space has been earmarked near the Suvarna Soudha for protests. A new garden outside the building will be inaugurated. A big 55X75-ft khadi national flag, handmade by Vinod Kumar Revappa Bomman of Kalaburagi, will be displayed at the Suvarna Soudha, Mr. Khader said.
