A leopard that fell into a pond in Pullur-Periye panchayat in Kasaragod was rescued late on Sunday (November 23) after a coordinated operation by the Forest department.
The animal, believed to be around two years old, had fallen into the pond on Sunday evening. According to forest officials, the leopard was found clinging to a pipe inside the pond. A rescue team reached the spot and lifted the animal out using a cage.
Divisional Forest Officer M. Jose Mathew told The Hindu that the leopard had undergone a medical examination and that it was unfit to be released back into the forest.
