A surprise check conducted by a team of officials, led by Assistant Director of Agriculture (in-charge) A. Somasundaram, revealed two fertilizer shops selling unauthorised fertilizers and pesticides that have passed their expiry date in Rajapalayam region.
A statement said that the team, including Fertilizer and Pesticide Inspector conducted a surprise inspection of fertilizer and pesticide shops in Rajapalayam region on Tuesday.
During the inspection, the officials found that private fertilizer shops were distributing unauthorised fertilizers which were stored in unapproved godowns. Another hop was found to have stocks of expired pesticides.
The officials suspended the licences of two shops. The officials would also take legal action against them.
