The continuous flow of liquor, ganja and other forms of drugs in different parts of Tamil Nadu has led to the unsafe conditions of women and children, said BJP national council member Puratchi Kavidasan here on Thursday.
Speaking at a demonstration meeting to condemn the brutal murder of a schoolgirl by a stalker in Rameswaram on Wednesday was not just shocking, but had created enormous anger against the DMK government. “When the government cannot protect its people and had miserably failed in its duty, they should step down on their own, else, the people would show them the doors in the ensuing elections,” he said.
The manner in which such grave incidents were happening in Tamil Nadu was threatening people from stepping out of their dwellings. The inefficiency of the administrators has led to heinous crimes increase rapidly, he said and appealed to the custodians of law to be tough.
The BJP district president Muralidharan expressed concern over the manner in which the teenaged girl was killed by a stalker, who was allegedly drunk in the morning hours. “If such a crime had been reported in Uttar Pradesh or Madhya Pradesh or any other States in the north, the DMK leaders and their allies would have lit candles and condemned the killings….” he charged.
While a school going teenaged girl was murdered, it was a shame that none of the political parties in the government had .come out in support of the bereaved family, he said and urged the people to be guarded against such people, who misled them with sugar coated statements of secularism and unity.
The BJP and AIADMK alone can give safety and security to the common man and appealed to the people to think well as the elections were fast approaching.
