The Left Democratic Front (LDF) has accommodated the demands of more constituent parties in the Thiruvananthapuram city Corporation this time. The Kerala Congress (B) has for the first time been allocated a seat. The party has fielded actor and party district president Poojappura Radhakrishnan from the Jagathy ward, which is currently being held by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). “The LDF has acknowledged the valuable ground work that we have done in the district. The gesture also shows the front’s broadmindedness,” says Mr. Radhakrishnan.
Long stints on amateur drama stages in his younger days paved the way for him to films, with Sreekumaran Thampi giving him an opportunity in the late 1970s. Parallel to taking up supporting roles in film and television, he managed a day job as a conductor in the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC). His entry to the political arena happened in 2001, as Personal Assistant to K.B. Ganesh Kumar, who was the Transport Minister in the A.K.Antony ministry.
