C.ollector K. Elambahavath on Saturday said all efforts would be made to give due attention to pending tasks and ensure their proper implementation in the future.

He was addressing villagers at a special gram sabha meeting held at Nallur village of Tiruchendur block.

Special Gram Sabha meetings were conducted across Tamil Nadu to marking Local Governance Day. Mr. Elambahavath chaired the gram sabha meeting held in Nallur.

Addressing the people. he said the Nallur village panchayat had a population of 2,800 comprising 876 households and nine hamlets. The residents can discuss works completed in their village, especially drinking water connection to the households, in the past three years. ā€œOf the 876 houses, 216 houses have been provided with drinking water connections and the remaining houses will be provided through Jal Jeevan Mission.ā€

He further noted that 729 families had been registered under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, but only 152 individuals were regularly continuing work. Several development works had been carried out in the village through various development schemes and the remaining works would be completed soon.

Additional Collector (Development) R. Ishwarya, Joint Director (Agriculture) Periyasamy and other officials were present.

In Kanniyakumari, Collector R. Alagumeena chaired a gram sabha meeting conducted at Government Higher Secondary School in Pilavilai under Maruthoorkurichi village panchayat.

At the meeting, she said the village had a total population of 5,579 with 2,768 men and 2,811 women. She lauded the villagers for maintaining cleanliness in the village. As per the instruction of the Election Commission, special intensive revision work of electoral roll. had to be carried out. Hence, polling station-level officers in districts would go door-to-door for verification from November 4 to December 4 and people must provide accurate information to the polling officers.

Assistant Director (Panchayat) Anbu, Joint Director (Agriculture) Jenkin Prbahkar and other officials were present.
