The Lokayukta police on Thursday arrested Assistant Director of Land Records, Mangaluru taluk, B.K. Raju and two others on the charge of receiving bribe.
In a press release, the Lokayukta police said they caught Raju and survey supervisor S. Dhanashekar at their office while they were allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹5,000 each. Another Surveyor at the office of Assistant Director of Land Records, Ullal taluk, Krishnamurthy, was caught while allegedly accepting a ₹20,000 bribe.
The Lokayukta police said the complainant was outsourced to work in the Dakshina Kannada Urban Property Ownership Records (UPOR) office in Mangaluru. To get pending salary and for renewal of his contract, Krishnamurthy had demanded from the complainant a bribe of ₹50,000, while Raju and Dhanashekar had demanded ₹10,000 each.
A team led by Deputy Superintendents of Police Gana P. Kumar and Suresh Kumar P. caught the three officials while they were accepting the bribe, the release said.
