Lorry, two-wheelers gutted in fire in Namakkal

A lorry and six two-wheelers were destroyed in a fire in the district on Thursday (October 30, 2025).

A timber-laden lorry from Kerala was headed to Hyderabad and when the lorry reached near the Tiruchengode court, the lorry driver Nagaraj (45) had parked the vehicle on the roadside.

At that time, the back tyre burst and in the impact, the diesel tank also burst and caught fire. The fire spread to the lorry and six two-wheelers parked at the spot. An automobile spare parts shop also caught fire. On information, fire tenders from Tiruchengode and Veppadai rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire after two hours of struggle.

In the fire accident, the lorry, six two-wheelers, and spare parts in the automobile shop were completely destroyed. The Tiruchengode Town police have registered a case and are investigating further.
