Panel discussion on family business management
Thiagarajar School of Management (TSM), Madurai, hosted a panel discussion on – ‘Family Business Management: Balancing Tradition, Innovation, and Succession’.
Usha Kim from the Aravind Eye Care System said that leadership demands humility, courage and the conviction to step beyond one’s comfort zone. She also addressed the rising role of women in family businesses, the balance between personal and professional commitments.
Thangamayil Jewellers Ba. Ramesh urged budding entrepreneurs to embrace a growth-oriented mindset and adopt the philosophy of constant evolution.
Managing partner of SVS Foods Suraj Vel Shankar highlighted the Experience Learning Center at SVS Foods, which provides students with immersive exposure to real-time business operations, bridging academic learning with industry practice.
Over 70 MBA students from colleges across Madurai participated and more than 20 entrepreneurs gave an insightful talk.
Following this, the valedictory session of the Growth Mastery Program was held, during which 14 MSME entrepreneurs received certificates for completing the 15-week program on the theme ‘Embrace Challenges, Elevate Growth’.
Golden Jubilee celebration
Former Additional DGP V Vanitha emphasised the importance of higher education in nation building. Speaking at the golden jubilee of the department of commerce, Fatima College, she said that education empowered women in the society and appreciated the institution for its yeomen services. Secretary Sr. Ignatius Mary, Principal Sr. M. Fatima Mary, and former professors participated. S. Fatima Rosaline Mary, Head and Associate Professor, highlighted the department’s journey since its inception. Associate Professor C. Lucia Vanitha proposed a vote of thanks.
National seminar
The PG Department and Research Centre in English and Tamil of Madura College, Madurai, in association with the Tamil Cultural Research Centre, Palakkad, organised the 133rd National Seminar on the Bilingual Poet Vanavil K. Ravi’s Literary Works.
Head of the Department of English Sheela P. Karthick welcomed. College president S. Seetharaman appreciated the literary merits of the poet. S. Srinivasa Raghavan, Advocate, Madurai spoke about the writings of Ravi with special reference to his book ‘Sentinels’. Principal Suresh and chief co-ordinator (SF) Nagarajan felicitated.
Several research scholars and faculty members presented papers in English as well as in Tamil, highlighting the literary, cultural, and revolutionary essence in Vanavil K. Ravi’s works, especially ‘Prahlad: The Epic’ and ‘The Ballad of the Warrior Girl Kuyili.’
Head, Department of Tamil, S. Dhanasamy proposed a vote thanks.
