Repaint details of updated zones
The markings indicating the zone and ward numbers, along with the serial numbers of street lights painted on electric poles across the city, have faded over time due to exposure to rain and sunlight.
With the recent reorganisation of zones and wards, several areas have been renumbered.
For instance, Indian Bank Colony, which earlier came under Ward 49 in Zone 2, is now classified as Ward 5 under Zone 1. However, the electric poles in this locality still display the old numbers, making it difficult for residents to report faulty street lights through the Corporation’s WhatsApp complaint facility.
I request the Madurai Corporation to repaint the updated zone, ward, and street light numbers on all poles to facilitate easy identification and prompt resolution of complaints.

Peaceful observance
Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar was a great leader who dedicated his life serving the people. He continues to command great respect among his followers decades after his death.
However, residents have expressed concern over the unruly behaviour of a few of his followers during the Thevar Jayanthi celebrations. Reports of disturbances, closure of shops, and schools declaring holidays have become common on the occasion.
It is hoped that community leaders will ensure that the celebrations are conducted in a peaceful and disciplined manner in the coming years.

Need for sub-post office
At present, those in need of urgent postal services in Madurai have to visit the Arasaradi Head Office or the sub-post offices at Meenakshi Amman Temple, Vilakku Thoon, or Mahal, which are quite far from Periyar Bus Stand.
Considering the large number of commuters, traders, and tourists frequenting the bus stand area, it would be highly beneficial if the postal department established a sub-post office there.
Such a facility would greatly improve accessibility and convenience for the public.

Amenities needed
The bed dam located at a scenic stretch of the Vaigai river near Thattankulam village, close to Tiruppuvanam on the Madurai–Rameswaram highway, lacks basic amenities such as park and seating arrangements.
If such facilities are created, it will benefit residents of nearby villages in Madurai and Sivaganga districts, as well as travellers passing through the route.
The authorities concerned may consider developing the spot as a recreation point for the public.
