After a brief respite from the wet spell triggered by Cyclone Ditwah, the city once again witnessed a heavy downpour on Tuesday evening.
Even as the public enjoyed the bright sunlight, what began as a drizzle quickly intensified into a heavy downpour, halting traffic movement temporarily.
Vehicles were seen moving at a snail’s pace in some of the key junctions in the city and pedestrians too found it difficult to make their way along the pavements. They had to bring out their umbrellas and raincoats once again. and wade through ankle-deep water. People were also seen taking shelter under the roof of roadside shops as they waited till the intensity reduced.
Most of the areas, including Surveyor Colony, K.K. Nagar, Anna Nagar, Mattuthavani, Azhagarkovil, Periyar bus stand, Kalavasal and Arapalayam, received rainfall for close to an hour.
