SCR’s Malakpet railway station under Hyderabad Division and on the Kacheguda – Falaknuma suburban route is getting a massive makeover under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) with an estimated cost of ₹26.5 crore.

Important express trains such as the Kacheguda – Kurnool Tungabhadra Express and the Kacheguda – Guntur Express, apart from suburban MMTS services, stop at this station.

Infra boost in the circulating area, provision or relocation of parking sheds, local arts, selfie point and signages, entrance arches, station facade on both entries, 12 metre-wide foot-over-bridge (FOB), cover over platforms, two escalators and lifts, new platform surface, lighting, and information boards are underway.

Works are in progress simultaneously, and are likely to be completed by June 2026. Altogether, 40 railway stations across Telangana are being redeveloped with an estimated cost of ₹2,750 crore, to provide modern passenger amenities and convert them into growth centres for the regional population.

Three railway stations — Begumpet, Warangal and Karimnagar — have been inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while works are in progress at the remaining stations, said an official release.
