After a four-month long investigation, the Nadakavu police have filed a chargesheet in the Kozhikode Judicial First Class Magistrate Court against 12 persons, including two police drivers, accused in the Malaparamba sex racket case.

Police drivers K. Shyjith and K. Sanith, who were placed under suspension following their arrest, are the 11th and 12th accused in the case, which was investigated by a special squad. One suspect, who allegedly rented out his building to the gang, is still at large.

The 41-page chargesheet submitted on November 25 has grave findings against the accused police drivers who allegedly functioned as middle men and made financial gains.

Though there have been complaints against the suspicious involvement of other policemen as well, the investigation team is yet to come across any concrete evidence to prove them. The call detail records of the suspects and their contacts are still under scrutiny though a few local residents have alleged attempts to protect many persons.

Nine arrested

It was on June 6, 2025 that the suspected inter-district sex racket was exposed during a check at an apartment near Malaparamba in the heart of Kozhikode city. Nine persons, including six women, were arrested in connection with the incident. The two police drivers and a Non-Resident Keralite were arraigned in the case later based on various digital evidence.

Sources said some recovered bank transaction records brought to light the role of the arrested police drivers. Call Detail Records had also been traced as further evidence to support the investigation.
