A male elephant was found dead on Saturday near the North Thadagam forest area, in the Coimbatore Forest Division.

Forest officials said the elephant, located approximately 25 metres from the forest boundary, appeared to have been in poor health prior to its death, with no visible external injuries or signs of struggle.

Authorities stated that, owing to limited daylight hours, the post-mortem examination will be conducted on Sunday morning by veterinary doctors in the presence of forest officials, representatives from the revenue department, and voluntary organisations.
