Incumbent president of the Yadgir district unit of Karnataka Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) Mallappa Sankin has been re-elected for another term (2025-28).

The polling was held on Sunday at Partika Bhavan in Yadgir and Election Officer Narasappa Narayanor announced the results after the completion of counting of votes.

Of the 142 eligible members in the district, 137 members cast their votes during polling. Mr. Sankin secured 73 votes against the 64 votes of Dinesh V.C.

Except for the union president’s posts, all the other office-bearers were elected unopposed.

Sagar Desai, who contested for the post of member of the State executive committee, was declared elected after his opponent Raghavendra Kamanatagi’s nomination papers were rejected for technical reasons during scrutiny.

The new office-bearers are Vishal Dornahalli, Earanna Mourya and Kumarswamy Kalal (vice-presidents), Siddappa Lingeri (general secretary), Sagar Desai (State executive committee member), Gundabhat Joshi (secretary) and Rajkumar Nallikar (treasurer).

The executive committee members are Basavaraj Karegar, D.C. Patil, Anand Rao Gorkal, Devaraj Naik, Mallikarjun K., Manjunath Biradar, K.B. Raghavendra, Syed Said Hayat, Parashuram, Mallanna Patil, Basavaraj Sharadahalli, Mallikarjun Ashanal, Totendra Makal, Preeti Rathi and Rajendra.
