A man, who was accused of cheating divorced and widowed women, was reportedly found dead at his residence in Chintamani on Friday, a day after five women came forward and lodged a complaint against him.
The deceased has been identified as C.M. Girish, who also went by the name Sai Sudeep. He allegedly targeted divorced or widowed women on Facebook and other matrimonial websites, befriended them, and promised marriage. He allegedly got into physical relationships with them, recorded their intimate moments, and used to blackmail them for money.
Five women, who reportedly fell victim, came forward and lodged a complaint with the Chikkaballapur Women’s Police Station on Thursday.
The victims were from Nandagudi, Chickballapur, Bangarpet, and Bengaluru. He had allegedly blackmailed them and fleeced them of at least ₹30 lakh and gold jewellery.
The accused was found dead at his residence on Friday. Sources said that he had attempted to end his life a month ago as well and was treated for the same.
