The police arrested a man on Sunday (November 2, 2025) in connection with the murder of a woman whose body was found buried at a banana plantation near Getticheviyur under the Siruvalur police station limits in Nambiyur taluk.
According to the police, a decomposed body of an unidentified woman was found buried at the spot on October 31. Following this, the Siruvalur police registered a case of suspicious death and began investigation under the supervision of the Gobi Sub-Division Police Inspector.
During investigation, the deceased was identified as Sonia (37), daughter of Rajendran, a resident of Pudu Palayam in Appakudal. Post-mortem findings confirmed that she was murdered, and the case was altered to one of murder.
Subsequently, the police arrested Mohankumar (29), son of Subramani, a resident of Ottan Thottam, Getticheviyur, on Sunday. Investigation revealed that the accused and the deceased were acquainted, and the woman had been pressuring him to marry her. The accused murdered her after refusing her proposal. He was later remanded in judicial custody, the police said.
