Man arrested for stealing fish worth ₹25,000 from Kasimedu

A 22-year-old youth has been arrested for stealing fish worth around ₹25,000 that had been on sale in Kasimedu.

Malathi, 46, makes bulk purchases from the Kasimedu fishing harbour for her fish business.

Last Sunday, she bought fish worth about ₹25,000 at the auction and kept them in an ice box in front of her house.

The next morning, she found that around 20 of them had been stolen.

Based on her complaint, Kasimedu Police arrested Naveen, of Ezhil Nagar in Kodungaiyur in connection with the theft.

During interrogation, Naveen admitted to having sold the stolen fish. 

He has six previous cases pending against him, the police said.
