A 27-year-old man attempted to end his life at the Salem Police Commissioner’s office at Linemedu on Thursday (November 20, 2025) morning.
The police personnel present there rushed to his resuce and admitted him to the Salem Government Hospital. The man was identified as Raveendran, 27, a resident of Tamilar Street near Melpunalvasal in Thanjavur district, who had been working in Tiruppur district.
Investigations revealed that he had pledged his bike to a person named Siva, of Mecheri, who had reportedly sold it another person.
To get his bike back from Siva, Raveendran approached him on Wednesday (November 19), but the former demanded ₹23,000 from him, in addition to the ₹17,000 he had already paid him. Siva allegedly attacked Raveendran too.
The Annathanapatti police have registered a case, and further investigations are under way.
