Rajamangalam Police has arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly pushing a welder to death during a quarrel over a dispute in sharing a common bathroom.

The victim has been identified as Siva alias Sivaprakash, 36, a native of Muthalur in Villupuram district. He had been staying at a rented house at Thiruvalluvar Nagar in Kolathur and was working as a welder. He had frequent disputes with his neighbour, Tippu Sultan, 30, a native of West Bengal, over the use of the common bathroom and for washing clothes outside the bathroom.

On Saturday night, a heated argument broke out between the two. In a fit of anger, Tippu Sultan pushed Siva with his hand, causing Siva to fall and hit his head against a wall, losing consciousness. Neighbours rushed him to a Government Hospital in Periyar Nagar, where doctors declared Siva brought dead.

Rajamangalam Police registered a case and arrested Tippu Sultan in connection with the incident. The suspect has been working as a mason.
