A court here has awarded life imprisonment to a man for murdering a farmer.
According to prosecution, enmity developed between farmer S. Sivaguru 32, of Vannimanagaram near Tiruchendur and Ganesan of the same area after the cattle of the former grazed in the farm of the latter. When an altercation broke-out between Ganesan’s son Senthilkumar, 35, and Sivaguru during the temple festival in 2015, the enmity got revived.
Meanwhile, Sivaguru failed to repay the loan he had taken from J. Vembadidurai, also from Vannimanagar.
As Senthilkumar and Vembadidurai decided to murder Sivaguru, they invited him for a party during which the duo strangulated to death Sivaguru on January 27, 2016.
The Tiruchendur police arrested Senthilkumar and Vembadidurai.
Even as the trial of the case was going on, Vembadidurai died and hence Second Additional Sessions Magistrate Preetha awarded life imprisonment to Senthilkumar on Tuesday and imposed a fine of ₹5,000.
