The Central Crime Branch (CCB) has arrested a man who allegedly grabbed property worth around ₹3 crore in Madhavaram by forging documents and constructed a two-storey house on the land.

According to police, the property — measuring 2,134 sq. ft — is located at Thanikachalam Nagar, Ponniammanmedu, Madhavaram — belongs to Priyanka, 30, a resident of Poompuhar Nagar, Kolathur, who runs a jewellery workshop.

Police said Chandran, 58, of Kolathur, along with a few others, allegedly prepared fake Aadhaar, PAN, and property ownership documents without the knowledge of the owner. He reportedly submitted these forged papers at the Kolathur EB office, obtained an electricity connection in his name claiming ownership of the property, and subsequently built a two-storey house on the land.

Based on Priyanka’s complaint filed on October 22, the CCB’s Land Grabbing Investigation Wing registered a case and initiated a probe. On investigation, police arrested Chandran on Tuesday. He was remanded in Puzhal Central Prison.

Investigation further revealed that Chandran had previously been arrested by the Tiruvallur District Crime Branch in another fraud case for cheating people by promising to arrange the purchase of hospital land.
