The Pulianthope police arrested a man for allegedly sexually harassing a woman at a biryani shop.
The police the 30-year-old woman from Tondiarpet was at the shop with her mother for lunch on Sunday. While they were eating, a man seated behind them allegedly leaned against the woman inappropriately. When she questioned his behaviour, the man verbally abused and threatened her before leaving the place.
Following her complaint at the Pulianthope police station, a case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Act and the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act. After investigating, the police arrested Dhanasekar, 28, of Pulianthope. Further investigation is under way.
