The Adyar Traffic Investigation police have arrested the father of a minor boy for allowing him to ride a two-wheeler, which reportedly resulted in an accident on East Coast Road (ECR) on Thursday (November 20, 2025) night that killed a 50-year-old man and seriously injured another person.

A senior official of the City Traffic Police said R. Suresh and M. Mohammed Ismail were government drivers deputed to the camp office of Ramanathapuram Member of Parliament Nawaz Kani, in Adyar. On Thursday night, both Suresh and Ismail had finished work and left the office, with Ismail riding the two-wheeler and Suresh on the pillion.

As they were riding, another two-wheeler operated by a minor and coming from the wrong direction hit Ismail’s bike. Both of them were thrown off the vehicle. While Suresh sustained a head injury and died on the spot, Ismail was critically injured. He was rushed to the Government Royapettah Hospital for treatment.

The Adyar Traffic Investigation police sent Suresh’s body to GRH for postmortem. After filing a case, the police team arrested the boy’s father M. Murugan of Thiruvanmiyur for allowing him to ride the two-wheeler and allegedly causing the accident.
