A 37-year-old woman was bludgeoned to death with a cricket bat by her husband at their residence in KSR Nagar, Ameenpur, on Sunday morning following a heated argument over suspected extramarital affairs.
The deceased, Krishnaveni, worked as an assistant manager at a cooperative bank, while her husband, Venkata Bhemaiah, 43, was a realtor. Married since 2005, the couple frequently argued over mutual suspicions.
An officer from the Ameenpur police said that the altercation broke out around 9 a.m. when their 13-year-old son was at home. āTheir daughter, 17, who stays in a hostel, was away. The boy reportedly called his grandparents about the fight, but by the time they arrived, Bhemaiah had struck Krishnaveni on the head with a cricket bat, killing her on the spot,ā said the officer.
A case has been registered based on a complaint from the deceasedās mother, and the investigation is under way.
