A ‘man missing’ complaint registered by Mettupalayam police during 2024 was altered to a murder case on Friday (October 31, 2025) after arrest of two brothers and their father.
After Alavudeen (36) of Mahadevapuram, a car driver, had gone missing, Sumaiya (29) had lodged a complaint about her husband’s disappearance.
On tracing call records, the investigating team had found that Alaudeen had last talked to Sarankumar’s wife Pooja, with whom he had an illicit relationship.
On interrogation, police established that Sarankumar, his brother Manikandan (35) and father Ravikumar (59) had murdered Alavudeen by strangling and burning his body..
The missing case was thereafter altered to murder under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Sections 302 and 201.
Police recovered skeletal remains for forensic examination from the scene of crime behind Madheswaran Temple along Karamadai Road.
The accused were remanded to judicial custody.
