Man sentenced to 5 years in prison for transporting ganja from Odisha

A 36-year-old man from Odisha was sentenced to five years in prison and fined ₹25,000 for illegally transporting five kilograms of ganja from Odisha to Sangareddy. The judgment was delivered by Sangareddy First Class Additional Sessions Court on Friday.

The accused, identified as Sarjita Biswas from Malkangiri district of Odisha, travelled to Sangareddy in 2019 with the intention of selling the substance. He was apprehended by Enforcement Sub-Inspector H.A. Mohan Kumar, after which a case was registered and investigated was initiated.

Following the trial, the court convicted Biswas and sentenced him to five years’ imprisonment. The ruling comes on the same day four others were sentenced to ten years in a separate ganja transportation case by the same court.
