The Fast Track Mahila Court on Thursday (November 20, 2025) sentenced a 70-year-old man to seven years imprisonment for sexually harassing a minor girl last year.
According to the prosecution, the four-year-old girl from North India was residing with her parents at Chithode, who were working as daily wage earners. Subramanian took the girl to a secluded place and committed the crime. Based on a complaint, a case was registered under relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, and Subramanian was arrested and remanded in Coimbatore Central Prison.
After trial, Judge C. Sornakumar sentenced him to seven years’ imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹5,000. The Judge recommended that the State government pay ₹3 lakh as compensation to the victim. He was later lodged in prison.
