Mangaluru police arrest two drug peddlers, drugs worth ₹2.4 lakh seized

The Central Crime Branch sleuths have arrested two alleged drug peddlers and seized 24.57 g of MDMA synthetic narcotic drugs worth ₹2.4 lakh from them.

The police gave the names of the accused as Abdul Salam, 39, of Adyar Kannur in Mangaluru and Mohammed Nasir, 28, of Boliyar in Ullal taluk. The two allegedly distributed MDMA to students and others.

The CCB sleuths on November 4 arrested autorickshaw driver Abdul Salam, who was accused of carrying MDMA in his autorickshaw and selling it in the fishing harbour and Bunder area in Mangaluru. Apart from MDMA worth ₹1.2 lakh, the sleuths seized his autorickshaw, a mobile phone, a weighing machine, and a few other articles.

A case was registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Mangaluru South police station.

On November 6, the CCB arrested Mohammed Nasir, who was accused of selling drugs in Boliyar area. The police seized MDMA worth ₹1.2 lakh, his motorcycle, a mobile phone, and a few other articles. A case was registered under NDPS Act in the Konaje police station.

Search is on to trace other persons allegedly associated with the two alleged drug peddlers.

Drug consumers held

The Puttur Town police have arrested four persons on the charge of consuming narcotic drugs.

The police gave their names as Mubarak, Hitesh, Abdul Anas, all aged 21, and Umar Farooq, 41. They were found behaving inappropriately in Kallandaka in Kabaka village of Puttur taluk on November 5. They were subjected to medical examination. After they were found positive for drug consumption, the police arrested them for offence under Section 27 (B) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
