The exquisite craftsmanship and dexterity of Karimnagar-based silver filigree artisans found mention in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech during the 128th episode of Mann Ki Baat on Sunday.
In his speech during the monthly radio address, Mr. Modi made a special mention of the traditional metal craftsmanship of Karimnagar.
“I presented a silver Buddha statue to the Prime Minister of Japan and a silver mirror decorated with floral motifs to the Prime Minister of Italy during the recently held G20 summit in Johannesburg. These silver artefacts showcase the intricate detailing of the famous silver craft of Karimnagar in Telangana,” he said, calling upon people to adopt the mantra of ‘Vocal for Local’.
