The Central Committee of the banned CPI (Maoist) has termed the two encounters in the Maredumilli Agency area in Alluri Sitharama Raju (ASR) district as fake.

In a letter released by its official spokesperson Abhay on Friday, the Maoist party alleged that the police had picked up the Central Committee member and Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee secretary, Madvi Hidma, his wife M. Raje, and a few others, and shot them dead.

He alleged that the Andhra Pradesh police had picked up Hidma, Raje, ‘Tech’ Shankar, and other Maoists in Vijayawada on November 15.

“The Special Investigation Branch (SIB) police had taken the Maoist leaders into custody when they visited Vijayawada on November 15 for treatment. Later, the police killed the Maoists and projected them as encounters,” Mr. Abhay alleged, and appealed for observance of black day on November 23 in protest against the “fake encounters.”
