The district administration will hold a marathon in Virudhunagar on November 9 with the objective of cultivating physical fitness culture among members of public.
In a statement, Collector N. O. Sukhaputra said male participants in the age group of 18-25 years would run 8 km and women of the same age group would run for 5 km. Men aged above 25 years would run for 10 km and women for 5 km.
The first prize would be a cash reward of ₹5,000, second ₹3,000 and third ₹2,000. Those who secured 4th to 10th places would get ₹ 1,000. Winners would be given certificates.
Qualified school students should get their proof of age attested by their school heads and produce them by 6.30 a.m. on November 9 at the District Sports Officer near the Collectorate.
The winners should submit a copy of the first page of their bank passbook for depositing the cash prize.
