
Schoolchildren singing “Vande Mataram” to mark 150 years of the national song, in Tiruchi on Friday.

Mass singing of “Vande Mataram” was organised at Tiruchi Junction and Vellore Cantonment Railway Station in Tiruchi Railway Division on Friday as part of the nation-wide commemoration of 150 years of the national song.
At Tiruchi Junction, Balak Ram Negi, Divisional Railway Manager, Tiruchi, led the event and highlighted the role of “Vande Mataram” written by Bankim Chandra Chatterji during India’s freedom struggle. He urged the students to uphold the spirit of the song by serving the nation with sincerity, compassion, and excellence.
Around 1,100 individuals, including 500 students from SBIOA Schools, Tiruchi, 300 trainees and staff from the Multi-Disciplinary Zonal Training Institute, and 300 officers and staff of the division rendered the song in chorus, according to a press release.
At Vellore Cantonment Railway Station, around 100 students from Don Bosco, St. Mary’s, and Venkateswara Higher Secondary Schools, along with 50 railway staff, rendered the song, the release added.
