Mayor M. Anbazhagan inspected the construction work of the omnibus terminus in Tiruchi on Wednesday and ordered the Corporation officials to expedite the work.

The omnibus stand is being established on an area of about four acres adjacent to the Integrated Bus Terminus (IBT), at a cost of ₹17.60 crore. Of this, ₹8.80 crore was allocated from the State government’s Capital Grant Fund, and the remaining cost is borne by the Corporation from its General Funds.

The total project includes 30,849 sq. ft. of built-up area and 1,42,945 sq. ft. allocated for bus movement. The bus stand would have two platforms with 58 bus bays, 34 bays for mobile buses and 24 for waiting buses.

The construction began in November 2024, and the civic body expects to complete the work by January 2026. Construction progress has reached 85% completion, and the remaining work will be completed soon, allowing the facility to open for public use, said Mr Anbazhagan.
