
Seized contraband

A medical representative was arrested by the Excise Department Enforcement Team of Rangareddy on Tuesday while selling a banned cough medicine and alprazolam tablets from his residence in Munganoor village.

The accused, identified as Jalla Naresh, who works as a medical salesperson with a private pharmaceutical company, was found in possession of 714 bottles of cough syrup banned by the Drug Control Administration of India and 130 tablets of alprazolam, a psychotropic substance regulated under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
According to Enforcement AES Jeevan Kiran, the seized tablets contained around 26 grams of alprazolam. The contraband, along with the accused, were handed over to the Hayatnagar excise station, where a case has been registered under the NDPS Act. Further investigation is under way.
