Men’s Junior Hockey World Cup 2025: Pocket directories with important contact numbers will be given to players

 “The district administration has prepared a pocket directory comprising contact numbers of District Collector, Corporation Commissioner, Commissioner of Police, as well as contact numbers for emergency medical assistance – Dean, Joint Director (Health Services), ambulance coordinator – for the benefit of players attending the Men’s Junior Hockey World Cup 2025,” said District Collector K.J. Praveen Kumar.  

Addressing journalists here on Sunday, he added the directory would also provide the information for players to learn about the spiritual and tourist sites in Madurai city.  

“Apollo Hospital has been designated as the notified hospital partner for the SDAT Hockey World Cup Championship. Arrangements have been made by the Corporation to provide drinking water facility and mobile toilets at the newly inaugurated International Hockey Stadium,” he noted.

Regarding the seating arrangements, Mr. Praveen Kumar said all seating areas, including the two permanent galleries and the newly constructed temporary stand with 1,456 seats, would be covered with roofing.  

For spectators, an entry pass was mandatory and those interested could book free of charge through the website ticketgenie.in. from Sunday night. 

The tour itinerary for the players encompassed a grand reception at Alanganallur Jallikattu arena, a jallikattu event at the arena and a visit to the Keeladi Museum, he listed out.  

Arrangements have been made for more than 2,000 spectators who could not secure tickets to watch the matches within the SDAT complex, and arrangements have also been made for additional LED TVs, he stated.  

The matches will be broadcast live on channels like Jio Sports and Star Sports, allowing the public to watch from their homes. 

The Madurai City Police have deployed escort teams and assigned Personal Security Officers (PSO) in vehicles to accompany the players from the airport to their hotels and additionally security arrangements, including guards, armed police personnel and 24×7 operations police assistance centre, have been established at all eight hotels where the players are staying. 

The hockey ground has a total of six gates, with gate no. 6 designated for public entry. For vehicle parking, five to six locations have been selected for vehicle parking, accommodating approximately 200 buses, 760 cars, and 3,000 two-wheelers, Mr. Praveen Kumar said.  

“A total of 31 matches will be played. The December 2 crucial match between India and Switzerland, a key fixture brought to Madurai at the request of the district administration,” he added.

Police Commissioner J. Loganathan was also present during the press meet.
