MGS Narayanan Award for K. Gopalankutty

Historian and former head of the Department of History at Calicut University, K. Gopalankutty, has been chosen for the MGS Narayanan Award instituted by the Kerala History Conference.

Dr. Gopalankutty has won the inaugural edition of the award, given in memory of the late historian MGS Narayanan, for his contributions to historiography.

He has conducted research on modern historiography and studied topics such as the national movement in Kerala, the rise of the Left, the Malabar Rebellion, and the peasant-worker-teacher movements.

MGS Narayanan’s widow Premalatha will present the award to Dr. Gopalankutty at the ninth international Kerala History Conference, to be held at Government College, Koyilandy, on Saturday (November 29, 2025).
